Welcome to my website and blog. I want you to know that photography is my passion. What is better than having a job that is also your passion?
I received my first camera when I was 10 and have not stopped taking pictures since. I grew up in a very artistic household and learned to love all types of mediums especially photography. I received my formal training in Photography at Cosumnes River College. This opened up so many doors for me and I opened my business in 2001. I started off with a medium format camera and in the dark room developing my own film and prints. As soon as digital came out, I was at first reluctant as I love all the old alternative processes done with film and prints. I eventually immersed myself fully into the digital world. I do believe in keeping up with technology and keeping yourself competitive and sometimes I think it is exciting to invent new ways with digital that mimic the old film processes. The two types of photography style I like is photo journalistic and fashion. Where ever I can, I would incorporate those two into the jobs I get. I also love working in Photoshop and Lightroom. I love designing albums and other graphic needs. A very important aspect of photography to me is lighting! I heavily weigh my techniques and equipment on the best lighting for the job and using it creatively. After all photography is light. I have been very fortunate to also work in a hospital around newborns which has given me a lot of opportunity.
In addition to my own business, I have worked with school photography and children's sport photography. I am currently with one school account. On my web you will see that I photograph weddings/engagements, portraiture, families, children, babies/pregnancies and high school seniors. In addition to those areas, I photograph a lot of events such as Bat/Bar Mitzvah, Company events, Reunions, Birthdays and Commercial work. I can provide samples of those events if needed. An event tells a whole story with a lot of images therefore I chose to provide those when asked. I would like to upload my commercial work in the near future. I have regular clients and could provide links where they use the images I take. Images that I will not upload are from some of my pregnancy and boudoir shoots as they are intimate. If pressed to see some before booking, I am sure I could get permission from one of my clients.
Please look around my site and contact me if you have any questions. Even if you do not book a session come back to see what is in the tutorial/ramblings section.
Sincerely,
Robin Michelini
